Many people are curious as to what type of medical conditions are qualifying conditions for obtaining a medical marijuana certification in Orlando.

Since Florida legalized medical marijuana in 2014 the list of conditions in which medical marijuana can be used as treatment has grown.

When the legislation first passed only cancer and epilepsy were approved to access low-THC marijuana. The program grew in 2016 with the Right To Try Act which permitted full-strength marijuana to patients with a terminal illness.

In 2016, Amendment 2 passed which expanded the medical marijuana program. Amendment 2 expanded the list of medical marijuana to include other debilitating conditions and at the discretion of the doctor any other conditions which could be debilitating.

These conditions are cancer, epilepsy, glaucoma, HIV+, AIDS, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), Crohn’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, any terminal illness, chronic nonmalignant pain, and other medical conditions of the same class or kind or one that is comparable.

With the addition of “same kind or class”, any condition which exhibits symptoms or signs of any medical condition which is debilitating and similar in nature to other medical conditions that are listed.

For a condition to be debilitating it needs to interfere with or limit your physical or mental health. This could mean the condition limits walking, driving, thinking, performing manual tasks, or communicating.

Other conditions that are not explicitly listed that could be debilitating could be autoimmune in nature, gastrointestinal, anxiety, chronic pain, depression, fatigue, difficulty sleeping, arthritis, bipolar, diabetes, IBS, Hepatitis C, Lupus, Lyme disease, migraines, and much more.

If you think your medical condition qualifies and you want to receive a medical marijuana certification in Orlando then contact a local physician certified for medical marijuana. Only a certified physician will be able to diagnose and treat patients with medical marijuana.
