Every cat owner knows they need to take their pet to the vet on a regular basis to ensure their health is protected. Outside of checkup appointments, it can sometimes be difficult to tell if a cat is sick or in need of medical attention because they hide their symptoms well. Sometimes, a cat can be very ill and an owner have no clue until the animal is near death. This is why it is crucial owners are able to recognize the subtle clues there may be a problem with their cat’s health so they can immediately seek care from the Animal Medical Center.

* One of the most overlooked signs of alarm is bad breath. Owners often mistake their cat’s bad breath for the food they eat but it can actually be a sign of kidney problems. If one notices strange or offensive odors coming from their cat’s mouth, it is time to have them checked by the vet.

* If a cat’s behavior suddenly changes, it may warrant a vet visit. Cats that are normally clingy may suddenly want to be alone more. Those who rarely meow may suddenly start meowing incessantly. Paying attention to subtle changes in behavior is crucial.

* When a cat stops eating or drinking normally, this should be a great sign of alarm. If a cat has not eaten or drunk any water for twenty-four hours, they need to be rushed to the vet so they do not become dehydrated.

* Changes in litter box habits is also a big warning sign. If the cat’s pee or excrement smells or looks different or if they seem to be straining to do either, it is important they are rushed to the Animal Medical Center so the vet can determine the cause.

* Anytime a cat owner simply notices their cat is different in any way, it would not hurt to have them checked. Once an owner truly knows their cat, they can begin to pick up on the most subtle of clues as to problems with their health.

If you are a cat owner who has noticed any of these symptoms in your cat, it is important you seek veterinarian care. For more information on the services they offer, visit any or their Facebook page for regular updates.
